From Essex to Scotland, people from the Uk are finally taking notice of the young people’s concerns on the climate. Young climate activists are now using their voice to vocalise the truth. Their tech-savvy generation has found to be helpful in fuelling the young peoples drive to solve society’s problems.

Lia Watts founded the new brand: Salvage during the period of lockdown. In an interview with Vernal, she told us that she first got inspiration from other young individuals like Greta Thundburg. From then on, she proceeded to educate herself to gain a better understanding on the environment and how to change her daily habits. Her lifestyle began to take a change after the following movie release of The Minimalists: Less Is Now by Ayaah Bachri and Juliet Harper. Lia Watts decided that she too would participate in The Minimalists 30 day challenge. On their website, the 30 day Minimalism Challenge aimed to minimise the person’s stuff and spending habits. The rules were that:

‘Each person gets rid of one thing on the first day of the month. Two things on the second. Three things on the third. So forth and so on.’

and

‘Whether you donate, sell, or trash your excess, every material possession must be out of your house—and out of your life—by midnight each day.’

This game motivated Lia Watts to creatively innovate her brand - Salvage. During lockdown, many people and adults fell into the trap of online shopping due to the boredom experienced by being inside. Instead of using her time to scroll through the dozens of online stores, Lia utilised her time by producing her pre-owned clothing and products to reinvent and up-cycle into another piece of item. She hopes that her new found brand of reinventing clothing inspires others into pursuing their inner artists.
